On February 27, a new version of the popular message transfer server ejabberd was released. Ejabberd supports the XMPP and MQTT protocols and is written in the Erlang programming language.
The main innovation of this release is the previously announced support for federation with servers using the Matrix protocol. This means that users of Ejabberd servers will be able to seamlessly exchange messages with Matrix users just like with other XMPP users.
Among other changes:
- support for cryptographic protocols TLS 1.3 and SASL 2;
- acceleration of server connection via the Bind 2 mechanism (XEP-0386);
- support for revoking and deleting messages from the server and interlocutors' archives (XEP-0424);
- optimization of server availability checks (XEP-0198);
- versioning of the HTTP API.
