On June 9, 2026, the first stable release was published Euro-Office 1.0 — of an open office suite for collaborative editing of documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. The project is being developed as a European and sovereign alternative to Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and other cloud-based office solutions, and its code is open is available on GitHub under the AGPLv3 license.
Euro-Office is based on the ONLYOFFICE codebase but is evolving as a separate project with the involvement of European companies and organizations, including Nextcloud, IONOS, Eurostack, XWiki, OpenProject, Soverin, Abilian, BTactic, Open-Xchange, and Office.eu. The first stable release is already designed for use in work environments and is integrated into Nextcloud Hub 26 Spring as one of the office editor options within Nextcloud Office.

Web editors for documents, spreadsheets, and presentations — the suite allows for creating and editing office files directly in the browser without needing to install a full desktop application.
Real-time collaborative editing — multiple users can work simultaneously on a single document, spreadsheet, or presentation.
Support for common formats — supports working with DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, PDF, ODT, ODS, ODP, TXT, and several other formats.
Integration into existing platforms — Euro-Office is not positioned as a standalone application but is designed for integration into file storage systems, wikis, project platforms, and corporate workspaces.
Integration with Nextcloud Hub — in Nextcloud Hub 26 Spring, the suite is available as an alternative to Collabora within Nextcloud Office, allowing for editor selection.
File saving and exporting — an edited document can be saved back to the original system or downloaded in one of the supported formats.
Open development — the project is developed publicly, accepting external contributions and emphasizing reducing barriers for new participants: automatic testing has been added, documentation has been expanded, and the codebase is being cleaned up and made more developer-friendly.
Focus on digital sovereignty — Euro-Office is promoted as a solution for organizations that value control over data processing locations, jurisdiction, auditing, and reliance on external providers.
Increased attention to security and stability Before the stable release, developers focused on cleaning up the codebase, fixing security issues, and preparing a version suitable for production use.
Plans for desktop and mobile applications Desktop and mobile applications are still under development and are indicated as the next phase of project evolution.
Development of ODF support Full support for the OpenDocument format has been named one of the priorities for upcoming releases.
A discussion about Euro-Office has already emerged in the community. The Document Foundation, which develops LibreOffice, criticizes the focus on compatibility with Microsoft Office formats and believes that for true digital sovereignty, European organizations should primarily rely on ODF. Nevertheless, Euro-Office bets on practical compatibility with existing document workflows and integration into European open-source platforms.
