ALT Linux developers announced the release of quarterly "starter builds" of the distribution.
"Starter builds" are small live builds with various graphical environments plus server, rescue, and cloud options; they are available for free download and unlimited use under the GPL, convenient for personal customization, and are generally intended for experienced users; the package is updated quarterly. They do not claim to be complete solutions, unlike distributions. (c) Official project wiki
Builds are available for platforms i586, x86_64, aarch64, and armh.
Changes compared to the last December version:
- Kernel 4.19.102 and 5.4.23
- Mesa 19.2.8
- Firefox ESR 68.5
- KDE5: 5.67.0 / 5.18.1 / 19.12.2
Known issues:
- Clipboard does not work in VirtualBox.
- Cinnamon, Gnome3, and KDE5 experience issues with window resizing in VirtualBox when using the virtual video adapter vmsvga.
- In UEFI mode, non-ASCII characters are not displayed on sysvinit if 'quiet' is passed to the kernel at boot.
A build with engineering software has also been compiled — Engineering P9.
It is also worth noting that developers do not recommend using programs like UNetbootin or UltraISO for writing images to FLASH drives.
