Scientific Linux (SL) is a Linux operating system distribution created through the joint efforts of Fermilab and CERN, supported by various laboratories and universities around the world. It is based on the source code for Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions in accordance with the end-user license agreement.
Recently, an increasing number of users have transitioned from Scientific Linux to CentOS from Red Hat. Finally, Fermilab announced that Scientific Linux 8 will no longer be released, and all its developments will be merged into CentOS.
