Dear fans of Heroes of Might and Magic II and the fheroes2 project!
Today we are pleased to present you with a new version of the fheroes2 engine. 1.1.17! Each new release makes the project a little better, and version 1.1.17 is no exception, affecting almost all aspects of the game.
The main innovation of this release is the automatic map testing mode.Now map creators can automatically run their scenarios through AI players, observe their behavior, analyze map balance, and just watch events unfold without any intervention. Such a feature has not existed in any game from the Heroes of Might and Magic series, and we hope it will assist both in testing the engine and in creating new maps.
Along with this, the editor has received another convenient enhancement — switching between objects in one group using the mouse wheel. This significantly speeds up object selection without the need to open the full list every time.
Significant improvements have been made to the artificial intelligence.AI heroes now make more intelligent decisions on the adventure map, staying in castles at the end of their turn to gain movement bonuses, handling summoned phantoms better in combat, and correctly using the spell “Teleport” on creatures under the effect of “Berserk.” Additionally, we managed to further speed up the AI turns without any changes to its behavior logic.
There are also many other improvements. We continue to enhance the user interface and engine performance. The Battle Only mode has received several fixes and minor interface improvements.
Smooth inertial movement of the camera has appeared on the adventure map, the random map generator now places objects more accurately, and Android device owners can now extract game resources directly from the GOG installer. We have also managed to reduce the game's startup time (which is especially noticeable on low-end devices) and further optimize RAM usage. In total, since the last release, the team has closed over 30 tasks and fixes. tasks and corrections.
