Firefox 157, scheduled for release on September 29, will use the new user interface developed by the Nova project by default. To enable the new interface before Firefox 157 is released, you can set the "browser.nova.enabled" preference on the about:configs page. Key changes:
- Rounded tab buttons and address bar fields.
- The tab bar, navigation bar and sidebar are placed in a separate, highlighted area.
- The toolbar contains separate buttons for switching to private browsing mode and using the built-in VPN.
- Simplified access to tab grouping, vertical tabs, and side-by-side viewing of two tabs.
- The ability to enable compact mode, in which interface elements take up less screen space, has been restored.
- Icons have been updated to look cleaner and more balanced across light and dark themes.
- The color palette has been updated to include shades of purple and lighter, warmer tones.
- Implemented a glow effect around the active tab button.
- The indents between all interface elements have been changed.
