Mozilla has released the first public beta version of Firefox for computers based on Qualcomm Snapdragon chips and the Windows 10 operating system. This refers to laptops, so the list of programs for such devices has slightly expanded.
The browser is expected to transition from beta testing to release in the next two months, meaning that users will be able to benefit from it by early summer.
It is noteworthy that such laptops are characterized by low power consumption, a result of using an ARM architecture processor. As stated by Chuck Harmston, Senior Product Manager at Mozilla for the Firefox ARM project, the main goal of developers is to minimize the browser's power consumption in all aspects. The company does not provide any comparative metrics, making it difficult to gauge how much the ARM version of the browser surpasses the builds for x86 and x86-64.
It is not yet specified how Firefox for ARM operates, but it is possible that it runs native code rather than x86 emulation, which should significantly enhance its performance.
