Flathub has lifted the ban on hosting applications developed using AI tools.

The Flathub application catalog has changed its rules regarding the use of AI tools in the development of published applications. The new version of the rules allows the placement of applications on Flathub that utilize AI-generated code, documentation, and other materials, but requires mandatory disclosure of AI use. The published information about AI application must specify the areas and approximate volume of content generated through AI.
The use of AI-generated content is prohibited in manifest files. Reviewers of packages proposed for inclusion in Flathub have the discretion to reject projects based on the size and role of AI content, as well as concerns regarding the completeness of review, quality, and maintenance of AI-generated code.

The use of AI tools and AI agents for automating the submission of pull requests, as well as generating commit messages, descriptions, comments, and replies published in the Flathub repository, remains prohibited. Misrepresentation or concealment of information about AI-generated content, or violation of the AI use ban when interacting with the Flathub repository, may lead to rejections of submission requests. Repeated violations may result in an indefinite ban.

We remind you that in May, Flathub introduced a complete ban on the publication of applications containing any code, documentation, and other components created with the involvement of AI, with the possibility of providing individual exceptions for mature and well-maintained projects. The rules applied to published applications, add-ons, manifest files, metadata, patches, build scripts, pull requests, and any artifacts created through flatpak-builder.
