The Apache Foundation has published its report for the 2019 fiscal year.

Apache Foundation presented the report for the 2019 fiscal year (from April 30, 2018, to April 30, 2019). The total assets during the reporting period amounted to $3.8 million, which is $1.1 million more than in the 2018 fiscal year. The size of equity increased by $645,000 over the year and reached $2.87 million. Most of the funds were received from sponsors — currently, there are 10 platinum sponsors, 9 gold, 11 silver, and 25 bronze, as well as 24 project-specific sponsors and 766 individual participants.

Some statistics:

• The total cost of developing all Apache projects from scratch is estimated at $20 billion based on the COCOMO 2 cost estimation model;
• The codebase of all Apache projects contains over 190 million lines. The 1800 git repositories of the project include about 75GB of code considering the history of changes;
• Throughout the existence of the Foundation, over 3 million changes have been accepted into the codebases of the projects, covering more than a billion lines of code;
• Under the auspices of the Apache Foundation, 332 projects and subprojects are being developed, of which 47 are in the incubator. Over the year, 17 projects have been moved from the incubator;
• More than 7,000 committers oversee the development;
• Apache projects cover areas such as machine learning, big data processing, build management, cloud systems, content management, DevOps, IoT, mobile application development, server systems, and web frameworks;
• The five most popular projects: Hadoop, Kafka, Lucene, POI, ZooKeeper;
• The five most active repositories by number of commits:
  Camel, Hadoop, HBase, Beam, Flink;
• The five largest repositories by number of lines of code:
  NetBeans, OpenOffice, Flex, Mynewt, Trafodion;
• Over 9 million downloads of code archives have been recorded from mirrors. The site apache.org handles about 35 million views per week;
• 3,280 committers changed 71 million lines of code and made over 222 thousand commits.
• A total of 1,131 mailing lists are supported, in which 18,750 authors sent more than 14 million emails and created 570 thousand threads. The most active mailing lists (user@ + dev@) support the projects Flink, Beam, Lucene, Ignite, Kafka;
• The most actively cloned projects on GitHub: Thrift, Cordova, Arrow, Airflow, Beam;
• The most popular projects on GitHub: Spark, Camel, Flink, Kafka, and Airflow.
