Now there will be a choice: to use binaries or to compile everything on your own hardware.
Here's what they say:
To speed up performance on slow hardware and for general convenience, we now also offer binary packages for download and direct installation! For most architectures, this is limited to the system kernel and weekly updates — however, this is not the case for amd64 and arm64. Our mirrors feature over 20 GB of packages, from LibreOffice to KDE Plasma and from Gnome to Docker. Gentoo is stable and updates daily. Enjoy!
IMO: On one hand, this is good — some QEMU no longer needs to be compiled for hours on your own computer, but on the other — Gentoo — this is source-based distribution, I could just as well use Artix, Void, Slackware, etc.
