As is known, next Tuesday, January 14, Microsoft the last set of security updates for Windows 7. After that, support for the 2009 OS will officially end. Unofficially, skilled users will certainly be able to use the updates provided under the paid support program, but that's not what this is about.
Many users have likely thought that with the end of OS support and the upcoming release of the new Microsoft Edge based on Chromium, they might be left without their familiar tools. That's not the case: Google Chrome on Windows 7 for another 18 months, until July 15, 2021.
As Max Christoff, the director of Chrome development, stated, this is done for those users and companies who have not yet started transitioning to Windows 10 or have only just begun the process. He clarified that Chrome for Windows 7 will receive all the same security updates and functionalities as the version for Windows 10.
Christoff noted that the unification of the interface and general design principles of the browser are consistent across all platforms, so the transition should not be difficult. It is also expected that for at least the next year and a half, browsers like Firefox, Opera, and Vivaldi will receive updates.
