Google has warned that starting September 27, the ability to connect to Google accounts on devices running Android versions released more than 10 years ago will be discontinued. The reason given is user security concerns.
When attempting to connect to Google products, including Gmail, YouTube, and Google Maps, from an older version of Android, users will receive an error about an incorrect username or password. This applies to versions up to Android 2.3.7. The Android 2.3 platform was released in 2010, and the 2.3.7 update was offered in September 2011. To continue using Google services, it is recommended to upgrade devices to at least Android 3.0.
