In February, NVIDIA announced the mobile graphics processors GeForce MX230 and MX250. At that time, there were speculations that the higher model would exist in two variations. This information has now been confirmed.
Let’s briefly recall the key specifications of the GeForce MX250. It features 384 universal processors, a 64-bit memory bus, and up to 4 GB of GDDR5 (effective frequency — 6008 MHz).
According to reports, laptop developers will be able to choose between GeForce MX250 versions with the code designations 1D52 and 1D13. One of them will have a maximum thermal dissipation of 25 W, while the other will be 10 W.
It is noted that the performance difference between these GPU variants will be quite significant — around 30%. This means the 10-watt model will lag behind its elder sibling in terms of speed by approximately one third.
Unfortunately, average buyers will find it difficult to know which specific version of the graphics processor is used in a laptop. This is because manufacturers will only indicate the GeForce MX250 designation, while to determine the exact modification, one would need to run benchmark software and/or thoroughly examine the graphics subsystem configuration.
