This year, the Chinese company Huawei launched its own operating system Harmony OS, which could replace Android if the manufacturer can no longer use Google's software platform on its devices. Notably, Harmony OS can be used not only in smartphones and tablets but also in other types of devices.
Now, network sources report that Harmony OS’s share in the global market will reach 2% next year, making it the fifth largest software platform in the world, surpassing Linux. The message also states that Harmony OS’s market share in China will be 5% by the end of next year.
Currently, the most widely used operating system in the world is Android, which has a share of 39%. The second position belongs to Windows, installed on 35% of devices, while iOS rounds out the top three with a market share of 13.87%. Following the leaders are macOS and Linux, holding 5.92% and 0.77% of the market, respectively.
As for Harmony OS, it is expected to appear on more devices in the future. This year, Honor Vision TV and Huawei Smart TV were introduced, running on Harmony OS. However, company representatives state that smartphones with Harmony OS will not be released yet. Most likely, the first smartphones based on Huawei's own operating system will launch in the domestic market, where the role of Google apps and services is not as significant as in other countries.
