The newly announced Lunar Lake processor will be Intel's new flagship solution for thin laptops. It is built on the new Lion Cove P-cores and Skymont E-cores. The latter have undergone significant changes—its overall performance compared to previous cores of the same class used in Meteor Lake has nearly doubled. The Lion Cove P-cores received numerous improvements in microarchitecture, but the Skymont E-cores stand out even more against their backdrop. Compared to the previous generation of E-cores, Crestmont (used in Meteor Lake), IPC in integer tasks has increased by 38%, and in floating-point algorithms, by 68%. Additionally, Intel has doubled the performance of Skymont in vector workloads that utilize AVX and VNNI instructions.
