In addition to mobile processors Intel today officially introduced new desktop processors from the ninth generation Core family, which also belong to the Coffee Lake Refresh family. The highest product in the Core family is the Core i9-9900 processor with 8 cores and 16 threads. It differs from its relatives, the Core i9-9900K and Core i9-9900KF, by having a locked multiplier. However, the maximum Turbo frequency for a single core is the same at 5.0 GHz. The base frequency, however, is 3.1 GHz, which is 500 MHz lower than the base frequency of the actual flagship models. Note that this new processor is also less expensive — the recommended price for one processor in a batch of 1,000 units is $439, which is $49 lower than the recommended price of the Core i9-9900K and Core i9-9900KF.
The Core i7 series includes two processors: the Core i7-9700 and Core i7-9700F. Both have eight cores and eight threads. The latter, as you might guess, comes with a disabled integrated graphics processor. These new models have frequencies of 3.0/4.7 GHz, which is slightly lower than the frequencies of the Core i7-9700K and Core i7-9700KF, which are 3.6/4.9 GHz. The price of the new Core i7 processors is $323. As before, the removal of the integrated graphics has not affected the price of the F-series chip.
Intel also introduced the Core i5-9600, Core i5-9500, and Core i5-9500F processors, each of which has six cores and six threads. They differ only in clock frequencies, and the F-series model has the integrated graphics disabled, of course. The prices of the new products are around the $200 mark. Finally, Intel unveiled five Core i3 processors, which have four cores and four threads. They again differ only in frequencies. There is also the Core i3-9350K model with an unlocked multiplier and increased cache, as well as the Core i3-9100F model without integrated GPU. The prices for the new Core i3 processors range from $122 to $173.
The new processors in the Core i5, Core i7, and Core i9 series have a TDP of 65 W, unlike the 95 W models with the 'K' suffix. Meanwhile, the Core i3-9350K has a TDP of 91 W, while other Core i3 models have a TDP of 62 or 65 W. It is also worth noting that Core i3 chips support DDR4-2400 memory, while all older models can work with DDR4-2666 memory. The maximum RAM capacity reaches 128 GB.
Intel also introduced new Pentium Gold and Celeron processors. All of them feature two cores, but the first ones support Hyper-Threading. The most notable newcomer is the higher-end Pentium Gold G5620, which operates at a frequency of 4.0 GHz. This is the first Pentium with such a high frequency. However, there are no Pentium F-series processors with disabled integrated graphics, as was predicted by rumors. , among the new products.
It's also worth noting that Intel introduced T-series Core processors of the ninth generation. These chips feature reduced power consumption and have a TDP of only 35 W. Naturally, to achieve such a significant reduction in power consumption, the clock speeds of the new processors had to be lowered. For example, the Core i9-9900T has a base frequency of 2.1 GHz, and its single core can boost up to 4.4 GHz. The new Coffee Lake Refresh processors and ready-made systems based on them will be available for sale in the near future.
