Cassidy Blaede, co-founder of the elementary OS distribution, announced the cessation of his involvement in the project. Since 2018, Cassidy had been working full-time on the development of elementary OS. Initially, due to financial issues at elementary Inc, Cassidy planned to find a new job to free up resources that were being spent on his salary and continue participating in the life of elementary OS while maintaining his co-owner status (the offered position was related to open-source development and allowed him to continue spending some time on elementary OS).
Due to a conflict with another co-founder, Cassidy ultimately decided to leave the project entirely. He transferred his share in elementary Inc to Danielle Foré, who is now the sole owner. The terms of the deal are not disclosed, but it seems that Cassidy agreed to Danielle's conditions and received half of the funds remaining in the company's account. After leaving the project, Cassidy plans to dedicate his efforts in the community to the development of GNOME, Flatpak, and Flathub.
