These materials vary widely in quality, from blatant fantasies to quite credible reports. Occasionally, some very unusual 'news' surfaces that merit discussion even after April 1. For instance, this year a 'report' emerged about NVIDIA preparing a GeForce RTX 2090 graphics card based on two Turing GPUs!
An enthusiast under the alias Captain NA posted a video on his YouTube channel showcasing the unboxing, disassembly, and testing of a new GeForce RTX 2090 graphics card, supposedly built on two Turing GPUs. The level of material development is indeed impressive.
The enthusiast created several mockups of the GeForce RTX 2090 graphics card that closely resemble real graphics accelerators. Only the enormous length reveals the devices' fakeness at first glance. Interestingly, one of the mockups even features a detailed circuit board, which hosts not only two GPUs but also other electronic components, power circuits, and even an PLX chip. Of course, none of the elements are genuine, but they look quite plausible on video.
A mockup packaging for the 'new' graphics card was also created. The high level of preparation for this fake is evidenced by the fact that during 'testing', the fake graphics cards featured functioning fans, and the GeForce RTX logo could change colors with RGB lighting. Additionally, the enthusiast built a mockup of the ASUS ROG Dominus motherboard, on which a setup of four GeForce RTX 2090 cards connected by a massive NVLink bridge was 'launched'.
During the 'testing' process, one of the graphics cards caught fire due to high load, but the enthusiast quickly managed to extinguish it using a 'pioneer's method', ensuring that the fire did not affect its functionality. The 'testing' showcased the outstanding performance of NVIDIA's new 'dual-headed monster'.
