Wine 10 Release Candidate. Wine-staging 10.0-rc1 release

Testing has begun for the first release candidate of Wine 10.0, the open implementation of WinAPI. The codebase has been frozen ahead of the release, expected in the second half of January. Compared to the Wine 9.22 release, 17 bug reports have been closed and 311 changes have been made.

The most significant changes:

  • An initial version of the driver for Bluetooth devices has been added.
  • The built-in Vkd3d package implementing Direct3D 12 has been updated to version 1.14.
  • The Mono engine implementing the .NET platform has been updated to release 9.4.0.
  • UTF-8 string support has been implemented in C runtime functions (libraries msvcrt and ucrtbase) such as _fsopen, _mktemp, and _searchenv. Functions freopen, _loaddll, _spawnl, _execle, and _sopen_dispatch have been enhanced to support UTF-8 characters in file paths.
  • Support for splitting debug information based on assembly identifiers has been added.
  • Bug reports related to applications have been closed: Clip Studio Paint 3.0, FL Studio 21, InnoSetup, Dragon Unpacker, Mathcad 15.
  • Bug reports related to games have been closed: Bloodrayne 2, Heroes of the Storm, Links 2003.

Additionally, a release of the Wine Staging project 10.0-rc1 has been formed, providing enhanced builds of Wine, including incomplete or risky patches that are not yet suitable for inclusion in the main Wine branch. Compared to Wine, Wine Staging offers 350 additional patches. The new Wine Staging release has synchronized with the Wine 10.0-rc1 codebase and has transferred the latest changes from vkd3d. The windows.networking.connectivity.dll library, implementing part of the Windows.Networking.Connectivity API, has been moved into the main Wine.
