Testing has begun on the first release candidate of Wine 7.0, the open implementation of WinAPI. The codebase has been frozen in preparation for the release, which is expected in mid-January. Compared to the Wine 6.23 release, 32 bug reports have been closed and 211 changes made.
The most significant changes:
- A new joystick driver implementation for WinMM (Windows Multimedia API) has been proposed.
- All Unix libraries of Wine have been converted to a system call-based interface.
- Bug reports related to the following games have been closed: Sea of Thieves, EVE Online Client, World of Warships, Everquest, Houkago Cinderella.
- Bug reports related to the following applications have been closed: NIK Dfine2, YouTube Movie Maker, cMUD 3.34, OpenMPT, dgVoodoo Control Panel, DTS Encoder Suite, Glyph.
