Candidates for Wine 11 and Wine-staging 11 releases

Testing has begun for the first release candidate of Wine 11.0, the open implementation of WinAPI. The codebase has been frozen ahead of the release, which is expected in the second half of January. Compared to the release of Wine 10.20, 17 bug reports have been closed, and 175 changes have been made.

The most significant changes:

  • The Wine Mono engine has been updated to release 10.4.0. Wine Mono is a distribution of the Mono Framework designed for use in Wine instead of the proprietary .NET Framework component.
  • Localization data has been updated to Unicode CLDR version 48 (Unicode Common Locale Data Repository).
  • Support has been implemented for the operation of the TWAINDSM module for scanners on 64-bit systems.
  • Bug reports related to the operation of the following applications have been closed: Photoshop CS 2, Office 2013, Tapps2, DirMaster, Gramps 5.2.0, FL Studio, cmd.exe.
  • Bug reports related to the operation of the following games have been closed: Resident Evil 2, King’s Quest: Mask of Eternity, Mahjong, Mugen, Oblivion, Mass Effect Legendary.

Additionally, a release for the Wine Staging project 11.0-rc1 has been created, providing extended builds of Wine that include incomplete or risky patches that are not yet suitable for inclusion in the main Wine branch. In comparison to Wine, Wine Staging offers 253 additional patches. The new release of Wine Staging has synchronized with the Wine 11.0-rc1 codebase and incorporated fresh changes from vkd3d.
