The first launches of the heavy carrier rocket "Angara" under commercial contracts will be organized no earlier than the middle of the next decade. This was reported by TASS, citing the company International Launch Services (ILS).
It is worth noting that ILS has exclusive rights to market and commercially operate the Russian heavy-class carrier rocket "Proton" and the promising space rocket complex "Angara." ILS is registered in the USA, with a controlling stake owned by the Russian State Scientific and Production Center for Space Activities named after M.V. Khruichov.
As noted by ILS president Kirk Pysher, commercial space launches of the new Russian heavy-class carrier "Angara" will not begin before 2025. He confirmed that in the long term, the company intends to initiate operations with this rocket.
"We do not expect commercial launches of the 'Angara' until around 2025. Then, ultimately, there will be a transitional period, which will probably conclude in 2026-2027," said the head of ILS.
The first launch of the heavy-class carrier "Angara-A5" took place back in December 2014. The next launch is scheduled for December of this year.
