Standard support for the OS branch HP-UX 11i v3, released in February 2007, ended for HPE Integrity servers on December 31, 2025 (support for HP 9000 servers was discontinued in 2021). Extended support for HP-UX 11i v3 will continue until December 31, 2028. Extended support for HP-UX 11i v2 (HP 9000 and Integrity) and HP-UX 11i v1 (HP 9000) expired on December 31, 2025.
Itanium processors were introduced by Intel in 2001, but the ia64 architecture could not compete with AMD64, primarily due to AMD64's superior performance and smoother transition from 32-bit x86 processors.
