Evgeny Naidenov, the founder of the Ultimate Guitar community, announced the creation of Muse Group and the acquisition of the audio editor Audacity, which will now be developed alongside other products of the new company. Development will continue in the form of an open project. The terms of the deal are not disclosed. Muse Group will also include the open notation editor MuseScore, acquired in 2017, which continues to develop as an open project.
Among the plans related to Audacity is the intention to hire developers for project enhancement and designers for a smooth, non-destructive interface update. It is worth noting that Audacity provides tools for editing audio files, recording and digitizing sound, adjusting audio file parameters, layering tracks, and applying effects (such as noise suppression, tempo, and pitch changes). The Audacity code is distributed under the GPL license.
