Three related projects for guitar sound processing have been released.
KPP 1.2
A software guitar processor in the form of LV2 and LADSPA plugin sets.
The tubeAmp plugin uses profiles in a proprietary *.tapf format, allowing you to
emulate the sound of any real guitar amplifier models.
The other plugins in the set
emulate Fuzz, Distortion, Overdrive, Noise Gate, and Octaver pedals.
Key changes since version 1.0:
- A built-in file selection dialog has been added instead of calling zenity.
- The Fuzz and Distortion plugin models have been changed to emulate the
FuzzFace and Boss DS-1 pedals. - New profiles have been added for tubeAmp.
- A bug with the GUI operation of plugins in Qtractor has been fixed.
- Numerous bugs have been fixed, including the incorrect operation of the Octaver plugin.
tubeAmp Designer 1.2
A guitar processor and *.tapf profile editor. It can
be used instead of the tubeAmp plugin as a standalone JACK application.
This is the first release, version 1.2, for unification with KPP, because it uses
the same guitar amplifier emulator.
Enables creating and editing profiles for tubeAmp.
Additional features:
Profiler. Allows passing a test signal through any real amplifier,
chain, software or hardware processor, model of electrical circuit. Automatically
analyzes the result and adjusts the profile parameters. Essentially, this process is similar to working with Kemper Amps.Auto-equalizer. Allows adjusting the sound of a finished profile based on a reference recording. Similar to specmatch in guitarix or Amp Match in BIAS Amp.
Deconvolver. Allows you to obtain impulse responses (impulses in layman's terms) of guitar cabinets
or anything else by passing a test signal through them. The resulting impulse can be immediately sent
to the edited profile or saved in a wav file to be used in any convolver
or impulse player.Convolver. Allows layering multiple impulses over each other. For example, you can add
reverb to a finished profile.
spiceAmp 1.0
A slow but accurate non-real-time guitar processor that uses
ngspice as an emulator. Resource-intensive, so currently you can only
process guitar recordings in wav files, outputting the result in a wav file. This is especially useful in conjunction with
With tubeAmp Designer, you can create *.tapf profiles using the SPICE model and then use them
in real time in tubeAmp.
To work, you need:
The model of the amplifier/pedal or the entire signal path in SPICE. The wonderful program Qucs-S is great for creating it, but you can use any other SPICE model editor,
or write the code manually.
Cabinet impulse (optional, not needed for pedals). The release includes models of some classic tube amplifiers,
models of almost all tubes used in guitar amplifiers (triodes and pentodes), for
creating your own models, impulses from two cabinets. It is recommended to use tube models
specifically from this package, as they have been specially selected and optimized for better performance in
heavy overdriven modes.
