The Document Foundations announced about the release of LibreOffice 24.2. Starting from this release, the numbering system has changed to a "year.month" scheme, so the next release will be version 24.8.
The following changes have been included in LibreOffice 24.2:
Writer
- Another batch of improvements in the Navigator.
- Comment styles have been added, allowing customization of their appearance.
- Improvements in the support for 'floating' tables from MS Word.
Calc
- A search field for functions has been added to the Functions section in the Sidebar.
- Support for scientific number format has been added.
- Row and column highlighting have been added.
Impress
- Navigation buttons for interacting with presentations on interactive boards in schools have become more customizable.
- The dialog for setting presentation mode options has been altered.
- Some issues in the standard presentation templates have been fixed.
General
- Auto-saving of files has been fixed and is now enabled by default. A backup file can now be saved in the same directory next to the currently open file.
- The UI mode called 'Ribbon' has received numerous updates and fixes.
- A search field for options has been added to the Options dialog. LibreOffice now automatically switches to dark mode in the KDE environment, depending on the system theme.
- Import from Gnumeric has received a large batch of improvements through the updating of the external orcus library.
- A cryptographic complexity indicator for entered passwords has been added to the password input dialogs.
- Security warning pop-ups have been transformed into information panels.
- A large number of changes have been made to support accessibility features.
- Support for importing multi-page TIFF files has been added.
- Import/export of SVG to DOCX format has been added.
- UI translation into Armenian has been added.
- Another batch of innovations in the ScriptForge library.
