LibreOffice (free, open-source, cross-platform office suite) uses AVMedia components to support audio and video playback and embedding in documents or presentations. It also previously supported VLC integration for audio/video playback, but after many years of development stagnation for this originally experimental feature—VLC has now been excluded, removing around 2,000 lines of code in total. GStreamer and other components remain.
The patcher reports: if anyone needs VLC in LibreOffice, the patch can be reverted if someone takes steps to improve the codebase.
