Linus Torvalds has switched from Intel to AMD on his main system

For the first time in 15 years, his system features a processor not from Intel. The new configuration includes a CPU AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970x with 32 cores (64 threads) and a total integrated cache size of 146MB (2MB L1 + 16MB L2 + 128MB L3). In comparison, Intel workstation processors offer up to 18 CPU cores. It is noted that on the new system, builds in 'allmodconfig' mode are completed three times faster than on the previous system.
