The latest patch for Windows 11 24H2 has proven to be extremely unstable and is rife with failures. Users are widely reporting freezes during installation, BSoD ("Blue Screen of Death"), and an inability to boot the system. No fixes have been released yet.
Just a couple of days ago, Microsoft released update KB5053598 for Windows 11 24H2, which includes several important security fixes. This is a mandatory update that installs automatically on users' computers. However, as PCWorld cites Windows Latest, the update seems to have become a real nightmare for many users.
One of the main problems is that the update may not install at all. Users are encountering errors 0x800f0993, 0x800F081F, 0x80070032, and 0xC004F211. In some cases, the process freezes at 6%, 20%, or 38%, and sometimes it gets to 98-99%, after which the system restarts, shows an error, and rolls back the update with the message that "something went wrong."
But even if the installation completes successfully, users may face the blue screen of death, boot issues, or failures with Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) that drops connections a few minutes after connecting.
Microsoft has yet to acknowledge these problems or offer a solution. Currently, there are no known workarounds, so for users experiencing errors, experts recommend rolling back the system through the Windows Update Center — this is the only available option for now.
It's worth noting that the situation is particularly concerning because the update addresses several critical vulnerabilities, including the CVE-2025-24983 exploit, which allows attackers to elevate privileges in the system and poses a serious threat to the security of user data.
