On April 20th, after more than two years, version 0.5.3 of the fast library was released. MD4C ("Markdown for C"), designed for parsing data in Markdown format and converting it to HTML format. It supports Markdown specifications. CommonMark 0.31 and GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM).
The package also includes the console utility md2html.
The project is written in C without external dependencies and is distributed under the MIT license.
Key Changes:
- The language- prefix is no longer repeated in the code block if the input already explicitly contains this prefix;
- support for autolinks (options like MD_FLAG_PERMISSIVExxxAUTOLINKS) has become slightly more permissive: the characters ‘+’ and ‘-’ can now appear anywhere in URL parts. This also improved compatibility with GFM;
- support for Unicode 18.0 (currently in alpha status);
- many bugs fixed.
