Microsoft announced the Edge browser based on Chromium back in December, but the release date is still unknown. Recently, an early unofficial build was released. Furthermore, Google has decided to move the "Focus Mode" feature to Chromium, after which it will return in the new version of Microsoft Edge.
It is reported that this feature will allow users to pin necessary web pages to the taskbar and open websites in a new tab without any distracting elements, such as bookmarks, menus, and more. Microsoft is also expected to add a reading mode to Edge to enhance the functionality of focus mode overall.
However, Google is not just going to copy the feature; it is expected to improve it, at least in terms of the interface and additional capabilities. One of these could be a reading mode for the "focused" tab. Another potential feature could be customization of the appearance of such a tab, although this has not been confirmed.
All of this will allow the user to focus on a specific web page and work with it, rather than switching to others. Currently, since the focus mode is still in development, users will need to wait a bit longer before more information is revealed regarding how this innovation will evolve.
Unfortunately, in Redmond, they continue to keep the release schedule under wraps, but according to several observers, the appearance of a public beta version is a matter of the near future. It is noted that this browser is expected to run on Windows 7 and Windows 10, macOS, and even Linux.
