Microsoft has officially published the first builds of the updated Edge browser on the Web. So far, we are talking about Canary and developer versions. Beta promise to release soon and update every 6 weeks. On the Canary channel, updates will be daily, on Dev - every week.
The new version of Microsoft Edge is based on the Chromium engine, which allows it to use extensions for Chrome. Declared synchronization of favorites, browsing history and previously installed plugins. To do this, use a Microsoft account.
The new version also features smooth scrolling of web pages and integration with Windows Hello and the normal operation of the touch keyboard. However, the changes aren't just internal. The new browser has adopted the signature Fluent Design style, and in the future, advanced tab customization options and handwriting support are promised.
“We work directly with Google teams and the Chromium community and value collaborative and open discussions. Some features are not yet fully featured in the browser you can install today, so stay tuned for updates,” said Joe Belfiore, corporate vice president of Microsoft.
Currently, only English-language builds for 64-bit are available. Windows 10Support is expected in the future.
