Microsoft has corrected its regarding the "775 percent increase in cloud services in regions where social distancing was implemented or self-isolation was recommended." In particular, it amended the announcement in its blog and published a correction for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The updated message reads: "We are seeing a 775% increase in calls and meetings by users in Teams over a monthly period in Italy, where social distancing was introduced and self-isolation was recommended."

The Microsoft spokesperson for media relations informed The Register that corrections were made to the Microsoft blog around 5:55 PM Pacific Time on March 30. This means the error was corrected 48 hours after the statement was published. It is clear that in correcting the error Microsoft was motivated not only by the desire to clarify but also by the concern that customers seeing such high demand might turn to other providers with less demand.
Nevertheless, the demand for data center services is currently quite high. Bevan Slattery, the founder of the Australian data center operator NEXTDC, speaking about the high demand for cloud services, posted a message on LinkedIn yesterday stating that "Data Centers — this is the new toilet paper." According to him, cloud providers are already experiencing a demand increase of 5–100%, which may further grow by 100–200%.
