Ahead of the official launch of the new Edge in January, Microsoft continues to expand the functionality of the browser that the company intends to to all users. One of the new features is support for custom QR codes, which can be used to send links to web pages to users.
A similar feature has already in Google Chrome; currently, specialists from Redmond are testing it on the Canary update channel, but it is expected to be available in all editions before the official release.
After activation, a corresponding option will appear in the address bar. For some, the feature is enabled by default, while others need to go to edge://flags and enable the flag for Enable sharing page via QR Code, after which they will need to restart the browser for the changes to take effect.
Scanning a QR code allows users to visit websites faster without manually entering the URL.
