The Windows 10 May 2020 Update, also known as Windows 10 (2004), will be available to consumers at the end of this month. In parallel with the preparations for the release of the major update, Microsoft has updated the documentation, emphasizing the PC processor requirements for installing the new version of the software platform.
The main innovation concerns support for the AMD Ryzen 4000 processor line. Regarding Intel processors, it is reported that support will include tenth generation chips (Intel Core i3/i5/i7/i9-10xxx), Intel Xeon E-22xx, Intel Atom (J4xxx/J5xxx and N4xxx/N5xxx), as well as Celeron and Pentium.
Additionally, the updated list from Microsoft includes Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 and Snapdragon 8cx system-on-chip solutions. Notably, the more recent Snapdragon 7c and Snapdragon 8c chips are absent. It is likely that the new chips were mistakenly excluded from the supported list, and Microsoft will rectify this later.
It is worth noting that on the "Windows Processor Requirements" page, developers indicate which versions of the software platform have been optimized to work with the new processors. Clearly, there are already computers on the market with Ryzen 4000 and Snapdragon 7c processors running Windows 10 (1909). In fact, the only requirement for the processor to install Windows 10 is the ability to run at a frequency of at least 1 GHz, along with support for SSE2, NX, and PAE.
