A new version has been released MiniOS 3.3.4, a lightweight and modular Linux distribution intended for use on removable media.
MiniOS is a Debian-based Linux distribution for removable drives, known for its modularity and flexibility. It allows users to easily customize the system to their needs and use it on various devices. MiniOS supports desktop environments XFCE and Fluxbox and has been actively developed since late 2020.
Key changes and improvements in MiniOS 3.3.4:
- Reintroduced the build based on the 3.3.x branch: the ability to build the distribution has returned thanks to changes in the repository structure.
- Installer now includes support for MMC devices, incorporating all improvements from the upcoming MiniOS 4.0.
- Boot scripts have resolved issues with package updates in MiniOS Puzzle.
- The Linux kernel has been updated to version 6.1.90.
- The elementary-xfce-minios icon theme has been replaced with elementary-minios and updated to version 0.19.
- Module compression using zstd has been implemented to speed up system performance across all editions.
- All Debian updates available at the time of the distribution's release have been included.
Developers highlight that this release includes the minimal fixes that users have long been waiting for. However, their implementation was delayed due to work on MiniOS 4.0, which promises significantly more changes.MiniOS 3.3.4 is available in various ISO image formats in four languages, including Russian.
