Mozilla China has announced the discontinuation of services for Firefox users in China. As of July 27, registration for the Chinese versions of Firefox Accounts (accounts.firefox.com.cn) and Firefox Community has been stopped, and the ability to post messages and comments on the forum has also been blocked. Starting September 29, the website firefox.com.cn, the forum (mozilla.com.cn), the homepage (home.firefoxchina.cn), resources for downloading and updating the Firefox version for China, as well as services for account management and settings synchronization (Firefox Sync) will cease operations.
Chinese users are advised to use the main download pages from Mozilla for installing Firefox. For users of the Chinese version of Firefox Accounts, there is a possibility to export a backup of their data. Support for users and the maintenance of services in China will be provided either by Mozilla or a new authorized partner.
Mozilla China was established in 2005 to promote Firefox in China, manage the firefox.com.cn website for Chinese users, and maintain a discussion forum in Chinese. The company developed China-specific builds of Firefox. The use of Mozilla trademarks was carried out in agreement with the Mozilla Foundation. Earlier this year, the Mozilla Foundation and Mozilla China reached an agreement under which Mozilla China will stop managing the Firefox-related business in mainland China.
