Mozilla has acquired Fakespot and plans to integrate its developments into Firefox.

Mozilla has announced the acquisition of the startup Fakespot, which is developing a browser extension that uses machine learning to detect fake reviews, inflated ratings, fraudulent sellers, and deceptive discounts on marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Shopify, Sephora, and Best Buy. The extension is available for Chrome and Firefox browsers, as well as mobile platforms iOS and Android.

Mozilla plans to provide additional resources for the development of the Fakespot extension and will eventually integrate its functionality into Firefox, giving the browser an additional competitive edge. However, Mozilla will continue to develop the extension for Chrome and mobile applications for iOS and Android.
