Mozilla developers have announced the release of official binary deb packages and installation tar archives, allowing the installation of nightly builds of Firefox on ARM64 (AArch64) architecture Linux distributions. Packages can be obtained from both the traditional download page and a specialized APT repository created for Debian, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, and other Debian-based distributions. After the implementation of automated testing for ARM64 builds in the continuous integration system, similar builds for beta versions and releases are planned to be published.
Additionally, several changes have recently been proposed in the nightly builds of Firefox:
- The ability to define custom color themes for Reader View. This can be enabled via the reader.colors_menu.enabled parameter in about:config.
- Optimization of the mozjemalloc memory allocation system, reducing the number of VirtualAlloc calls. In Speedometer 2 and Speedometer 3 tests, a performance increase of 3.5-5% was noted after enabling new code while maintaining the same level of memory consumption.
- Support for the Search Config V2 format has been added to change search engine settings.
- Startup time has been reduced by at least 3%.
