Mozilla has archived the repository of the open speech recognition engine DeepSpeech. The last change to the codebase was the correction of the README file, which added information about the cessation of the project's development. The most recent commit prior to that was dated 2021.
In fact, the development of DeepSpeech ceased back in 2020, after all the developers of the engine were laid off from Mozilla. The DeepSpeech team transitioned to the startup Coqui to work on STT tools. Two years ago, the startup shut down, and users were advised to switch to the open-source speech recognition system Whisper from OpenAI.
