Developers at Mozilla have announced the creation of an official repository with deb packages that enable the installation of nightly builds of Firefox on Debian, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, and other Debian-based distributions. The generated packages are compatible with traditional Firefox builds for Debian and Ubuntu offered for download in '.tar.bz2' archives.
Using the APT repository allows leveraging the native distribution facilities for installing and updating packages. The package builds include additional optimizations and security-enhancing flags. The publication of builds is integrated into the main Firefox release preparation process. It includes a .desktop file for placing a shortcut on the desktop and in the distribution menu.
