Nintendo Switch now allows you to read your favorite manga

InkyPen Comics and publisher Kodansha have teamed up to provide Nintendo Switch owners the ability to read popular series of Japanese manga right on the handheld-console hybrid. Fortunately, the device's touchscreen is perfectly suited for this.

Besides its impressive library of games, the Nintendo Switch offers little to users through its interface (there’s not even a full web browser or Netflix). However, the platform is quickly growing its player base and becoming increasingly interesting to a variety of companies. Now, thanks to the partnership between InkyPen Comics and publisher Kodansha, a huge library of manga in English is available for those interested — a welcome addition during the quarantine.

Kodansha publishes manga for a much more diverse audience than many other publishers, so readers have a wide selection to choose from. Meanwhile, InkyPen has been offering digital comics to Nintendo Switch owners since 2018 — so the service's interface is well-tested and quite user-friendly for exploring this type of entertainment.

Interested readers can access either free samples or subscribe for $7.99 a month — this gives access to the entire catalog of comics and manga on InkyPen, which includes over 10,000 volumes. Some popular manga available on the service include titles like Attack on Titan, Fairy Tail, and Parasyte.

By the way, recently Nikkei Asian Review reported, that Nintendo is ramping up Switch production to meet high demand from new players. This was driven in part by the success of several recent games — for instance, Animal Crossing: New Horizons sold 3 million copies only in Japan.
