A new leader has been appointed to Mozilla Corporation, focusing on AI in Firefox.

Anthony Enzor-DeMeo has been appointed as the new CEO of Mozilla Corporation. Anthony joined Mozilla from his position as Director of Product at Roofstock and had served as Senior Vice President of Firefox since December 2024. His responsibilities included overseeing the development of Firefox and the associated business growth. Before this appointment, Laura Chambers temporarily held the CEO position since March 2024.

Mozilla will focus on being a trustworthy company. This goal will be fundamental in product development and future growth. Success will be measured by two criteria: advancing the mission outlined in the Mozilla manifesto and achieving market success.

In the next three years, Mozilla plans to invest in AI to diversify its revenues and attract funding sources distinct from search engine usage fees. It is noted that AI has already changed how people search for information, shop, and make decisions. Mozilla aims to meet the users' need for transparency and privacy in AI usage, positioning Firefox as a reliable and independent product developed according to a business model primarily focused on user interests.

Three principles have been identified for the future development of Mozilla:

  • Users should have the ability to control the product's operations. There must be clarity regarding privacy issues, the use of user data, and AI (users should know why each feature works as it does and what benefits they gain from it). AI should be optional, with the ability to disable it.
  • A business model built on trust. Transparency in monetization.
  • Transforming Firefox from a browser into a trusted software ecosystem. Evolving Firefox into a modern AI browser that supports a collection of new and trustworthy extensions.
