IBM has introduced two new initiatives aimed at training qualified personnel to work with mainframes. The first, the Mainframe Skills Council, will include IBM clients and partners, representatives from academia, nonprofit organizations, and open communities, as well as anyone interested in developing mainframe skills. The second initiative is the IBM Z Mainframe Skills Depot, an online resource featuring over a thousand hours of self-paced learning materials. Among the first to join the Mainframe Skills Council are the Academic Mainframe Consortium, the State University of Albany, Broadcom (CA Technologies), DNB Bank, HOGENT, M&T Bank, Northern Illinois University, SHARE, and 21CS.
