The release of the NetBSD 10.2 operating system has been published, categorized as a maintenance update primarily including fixes for issues and vulnerabilities identified since the release of NetBSD 10.1 in December 2024. The NetBSD 10 branch will be supported until the release of NetBSD 12.0. Installation images of 639 MB have been prepared, available for 57 system architectures and 16 different families of CPUs. For new installations, it is recommended to use the recently published NetBSD 11.0 release.
Among the changes not related to bug fixes, support for new compiler versions is noted, along with enhanced stability for the iwm Wi-Fi driver, resolution of issues encountered on Olimex A64 and MIPS R5000SC systems, and the implementation of the capability to boot the kernel for amd64 when calling qemu with the ‘-kernel’ option. Support has been added for ASIX AX88179A USB Ethernet devices, Asus USB-N10 Nano B1 Wi-Fi, Realtek RTL8126 5Gbps Ethernet, RTL8125D (rev 0x6890000), RIoTboard i.MX6S IOMUX, and VMware PV SCSI. Vulnerabilities have been fixed in ipfilter, telnet, the TCP stack in the kernel, OpenSSL, Unbound, and X.Org. Updated versions include openssl 3.0.21, tmux 3.6a, and xkbcomp 1.5.0.
