The experimental release of the open implementation of the Win32 API — Wine 11.18 has been published. Since the release of 11.17, 44 bug reports have been closed and 380 changes have been made.
The most significant changes:
- Functions such as PsGetThreadProcess, PsGetProcessPeb, PsGetContextThread, PsReferencePrimaryToken, MmGetPhysicalMemoryRanges, SeLocateProcessImageName, MmGetVirtualForPhysical, KeCapturePersistentThreadState, PsDereferencePrimaryToken, PsGetProcessImageFileName have been implemented in the NT kernel simulation layer (ntoskrnl.exe), necessary for the correct support of device drivers.
- Corrections have been made to the header files supplied for the C language to enhance compatibility.
- Bug reports related to applications such as QuickTime 2.x, Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Express Photos, and SlingPlayer 1.5 have been closed.
- Bug reports related to games such as Assassin’s Creed Rogue, Super Meat Boy, Screamer 4×4 1.2, Enclave, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Return to Krondor, and The Bard’s Tale IV Director’s Cut have been closed.
An independent release of the Wine Staging project 11.18 has been formed, providing extended Wine builds that include not fully ready or risky patches, which are currently unsuitable for acceptance into the main Wine branch. Compared to Wine, Wine Staging offers 273 additional patches. In the new Wine Staging release, synchronization with the Wine 11.18 codebase has been carried out, and the vkd3d code has been updated. A patch that transforms the header file d3d10_1shader.h into an Interface Definition Language (IDL) format file has been transferred into the main Wine composition. Patches for converting the YV12 color representation to RGB in the rendering code and for executing checks of executable files for the WoW64 (64-bit Windows-on-Windows) architecture, which allows 32-bit Windows applications to run in 64-bit Unix systems, have been added.
