Release of nginx 1.31.4

The main branch release of nginx 1.31.4 has been published, which continues to develop new features. The parallel stable branch 1.30.x only receives changes related to fixing serious bugs and vulnerabilities. In the future, a stable branch 1.32 will be formed based on the main branch 1.31.x. The project is written in C and distributed under the BSD license.

In the new release:

  • Support for the second version of the PROXY protocol has been added to the 'proxy_protocol' directive, used in the stream and mail modules.
  • Requests to HTTP/2 and gRPC backends are now always sent with the pseudo-header ':authority', while requests to HTTP/1.1 backends are sent with the 'Host' header.
