On May 19, the first public release of the 0.6.0 very minimalist cross-platform browser took place Nordstjernen (Norwegian: 'Polar Star').
The project is written in C and distributed under the Nordstjernen Source v1.0, with each release transitioning to the MIT license ten years after publication.
The browser uses GTK4 and a number of third-party libraries:
- Lexbor – for parsing HTML, CSS, and URLs;
- QuickJS-NG – for executing JavaScript;
- libcurl – for networking;
- Wuffs – for decoding PNG, GIF, BMP, and JPEG;
- other libraries.
