The release of the uutils coreutils 0.0.18 toolkit is now available, which develops an analogue of the GNU Coreutils package rewritten in Rust. The project's goal is to create a cross-platform alternative implementation of Coreutils that can also run on Windows, Redox, and Fuchsia. Unlike GNU Coreutils, the Rust implementation is distributed under the permissive MIT license instead of the copyleft GPL license.

- Compatibility with the reference test suite of GNU Coreutils has been improved, successfully passing 340 tests, with 210 tests failing, and 50 tests skipped. The reference used is the release of GNU Coreutils 9.2.

- The transition to the is_terminal package instead of atty has been implemented for terminal detection.
Simultaneously, the uutils findutils 0.4.0 package was released with Rust implementations of the GNU Findutils utilities (find, locate, updatedb, and xargs). The new version includes:
- Support for the GNU-compatible printf function has been added.
- The xargs utility has been implemented.
- Support for regular expressions, POSIX masks, and substitutions "{}" has been added.
- The find utility now supports the options "-print0", "-lname", "-ilname", "-empty", "-xdev", "-and", "-P", "—", "-quit", "-mount", "-inum", and "-links".
