A corrective update for the Debian 12.4 distribution has been released, which includes the accumulated package updates and fixes in the installer. This release includes 94 updates addressing stability issues and 65 updates fixing vulnerabilities. The release of Debian 12.3 has been skipped due to the identification of an error in the linux-image-6.1.0-14 package at the final stage of its preparation, which could lead to data corruption in the Ext4 filesystem.
Debian 12.4 comes with the linux-image-6.1.0-15 kernel package, based on kernel version 6.1.66, which includes a fix for the problem. Notable changes in Debian 12.4 also include updates to newer stable versions of gnome-shell, mutter, nvidia-graphics-drivers, postgresql-15, qemu, systemd, xen, tbsync, gosa, lastpass-cli. The gimp-dds package has been removed as it is no longer needed since its functionality is now built into GIMP.
The llvm-toolchain-16 package based on LLVM/Clang 16 has been added, which is necessary for building new versions of the Chromium browser. Support for Unicode 15.1 has been added to gnome-characters and fonts-noto-color-emoji. The zstd compression algorithm is now supported in libsolv. In qbittorrent, UPnP is disabled by default when using the web interface.
For downloading and installation from scratch, installation builds with Debian 12.4 have been prepared. Previously installed and updated systems are receiving updates present in Debian 12.4 through the standard update installation system. Security fixes included in new Debian releases are made available to users as updates are released via the security.debian.org service.
